Welcome to your secret blogsite...(not public, yet)
Hi, Hills! This is a prototype site I put togethat way to communicate with you guys regarding graphics for Hill Construction (I've posted some ideas a bit lower in this site).
Third reason for the site, is that (IF you like it) the whole thing can be "migrated" over to a dot-com site without having to pay anyone for web-work. You just register a dotcom name and click a button. Since you don't need e-commerce transaction-functions on your site like online stores, your site can be more informational, and full of "widgets" as you'll see in the right column, here.
Again, if you like the look, I simply change the authorship-settings over to you, and you start doing your posting and blogging. I can also stay on as a contributor to do any weird, tricky things you might need. If you get tired of your site-format, Blogger lets you preview and choose a totally new look with a single click. No reformatting, and no design-bills for days of webwork.
Your posts all have contact-bars at the bottom for facebook, twitter, google buzz, etc. You can even get complete demographic stats on the site's viewership. You'll want to cruise thru the Blogger site to see all the bells and whistles. and free. yay.
On down to the graphics. I have set up a couple of very contrasting designs. I went traditional- sophisticate with version 1. It's partly included in the banner of this site. Romanesque text, polished brass, marble, and earthy tones. The visual of a hill in the icon is an "easy-connect" to your name.
Version 2 is more contemporary with a web-savy palette, a [current] geometric typeface, and a "sky-and-hill" icon built in "web-button" style. While these are technically finished-out graphics, they are really just concepts. Not like the old days of pencil sketches on pizza-napkins.
I labored over the roof-logo-thing and how to avoid the cliche. The fact that your name, Hill, also has a visual identity, is a real plus. The roof has been done and done. It's your graphic, though. Just my 2¢. I know I've forgotten a lot of info, but this will get you going, and give you a chance to mull things over at your convenience. I have set this site to be unavailable to search engines, and it won't come up thru a search, but can be viewed by anyone that you share the address with. If and when it's a go, the site can be optimized for search engines. God, I sound like an unadulterated geek. must stop now. must stop now.
